| The Arab Youth Network |
The Arab Youth Network group creation was inspired by the focus group session with youth to talk about the arising need among Arab Youth to have a safe place to communicate and also a place in the community where they can belong. The main and first objective of the network was to develop a social network, and from that social network, youth were able to communicate their inner dear issues of:
• Lack of Identity
• Lack of communication with one’s parents
• Language barrier
• Culture and what it meant (our culture, Canadian culture, parents’ culture)
What The Arab Youth Network hope from this program is to address the above issues and set a foundation of understanding among Arab and minority youth with regards to these issues and the impact they have on our lives. Also, help them understand themselves, their country, heritage, and culture and to be able to separate the difference and balance among them. The youth program is designed by youth for youthand the youth decided who they want to conduct the program and their activities, as they planned and conducted a summer youth BBQ.
