Arab Senior’s Stories of Migration and Transition
The Arab Community Centre of Toronto is very excited to embark on this project.
We believe that it is important for the Canadian multicultural mosaic that stories of
passage to Canada be archived. This Project is a preserving factor of the tales of
Arab-Canadian History. In this story-telling we celebrate the important lives that
the seniors have been living, by partnering each of the seniors with an Arab-Canadian
Youth who were responsible for recording and documenting the stories.
This project has provided the Youth with the opportunity to learn Arab-Canadian history,
built the necessary bridges between seniors and Youth.
The Arab-Canadian community plays an important part in the multicultural make-up of Canada
and through this project we hope to create the means for Arab Canadian seniors to share
their stories.
In this Project the Arab Community Centre of Toronto has created awareness of Arab-Canadian
culture and history in the recording and archiving of our senior’s migration stories.
