| Problem Gambling |
Problem Gambling is an urge to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. Problem gambling is not just about losing money, it has a negative impact on person’s life. It can affect health, school or work performance, financial and/or interpersonal relationships. The Arab Community Center of Toronto is currently providing professional and confidential services on Problem Gambling. The services include culturally appropriate prevention, education and treatment for gambling and family members in the Arab Community. Our prevention services include outreach and public education activities directed towards various Arabian groups. We provide services to individuals, couples, family and group counseling for people with problem gambling or those affected. The ACCT during the past year helped more than 20 clients to control over their addiction. We helped pathological gamblers to quit gambling through our counseling sessions. The project is funded by Centre for Addiction and Mental Health CAMH.
